Boat Safety Scheme

Clyde Safety can provide Boat Safety Examinations, a legal requirement for all UK commercial and leisure boats from only £150 – Our boat Safety Examiner will conduct a thorough examination of your boat. See our Price List for details.

What is the Boat Safety Scheme?

Boat Safety Examinations became compulsory as part of the Boat Safety Scheme, jointly established by the Environment Agency and British Waterways in 1997.

Meeting these safety standards in order to obtain a navigation license became a requirement at the same time.

Boat Safety Scheme Essential Guide

Boat Safety Examinations must take place every four years and the following links explain what is surveyed:

Why do I need a Boat Safety Scheme Examination?

Whether you own a boat for leisure purposes or for commercial reasons, it is necessary to identify the risks involved so that these can be addressed in order to meet at least the minimum safety requirements.

Fires, explosions and many other tragic incidents have occurred onboard in the past due to boats not being safely examined in the correct manner. It is your responsibility to do what you can to ensure the safety of yourself, those onboard and others in the waters.
